Maduinn mhath,
I am puzzled by the "Region 2 European Format" category. Does that mean I will be unable to play the DVD on an American player?
I know with the VHS tapes we had to do conversions...is it the same with DVDs? I am one Yank that would love to purchase and view SEACHD.
Hopefully I will be able to soon or else as the oran luaith goes; "Tha mulad orm fhein!"
Tapadh leibh a chairdean,
:-) Brian Ceanadach
PS: I have asked other entities this but may as well throw it out to you too...Will the BBC ever have such TV programs as Baird nan Orain or history programs like Cogadh is Ceol for sale?

Here's the Wikipedia entry on DVD region codes so you can read the full details:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
But, in summary, yes there are (silly) region codes embedded in DVDs that distributors use to enable them to hold regional rights to DVDs. Currently Seachd only has a UK and Irish distribution deal and so Region 2 (European region) is the format for the DVD.
You can play any region of DVD if you have a "multi region" DVD player (they are becoming more common). Here's one an Amazon.com for $27.95!

We are working with an international sales agent to distribute Seachd in the US and hope to announce a deal soon. In the meantime if you are in the US (or elsewhere) you can buy from Amazon marketplace (where sellers distribute worldwide) here:

Hope this helps!

Not sure about BBC projects, but with the new Gaelic TV channel coming soon I bet they will be available on DVD - if not directly for download...

I saw it when it was shown in Bangor, N. Wales, and have been gushing about it to friends, family and fellow students ever since.
What really pleased me is that the DVD subtitles are not only in English, but Irish Gaelic, Scots Gaelic and Welsh. THAT is what I want to see more of in future!

I saw this movie last night and was enthralled. So glad to have found it, but having posted my review I then found this blog where the title has been changed to The Crimson Snowdrop, as opposed to the Inaccessible Pinnacle.
I guess I will go back and alter my reviews. Thanks again for a wonderful movie; I hope you've started a tradition of Gaelic cinema.

I probably won't get a special DVD player just for one Region 2 DVD, unfortunately -- but if Seachd does become available in Region 1, I'll grab one! (let the distributors know that)

I can't find the DVD in America. Any ideas? Anyone?
